Annual Meeting 2026
The Alliance meets for two days on Gökova Bay, co-organised with the Mediterranean Conservation Foundation. An optional visit to the Gökova marine protected area follows on 7 November, and a group coach travels on to Antalya for COP31.
Two days to move the 2030 Strategy forward.
Alliance meetings are held once a year to advance our shared 2030 Strategy and to discuss Alliance governance and operations. The 2026 meeting is co-organised with the Mediterranean Conservation Foundation, our member organisation in Türkiye.
Two working days are set aside for progress on the strategy and for updates on member work. Funders are invited to join both days. We expect one to two representatives per member organisation for the two in-person meeting days.
Please plan to arrive at Dalaman airport (DLM) on Wednesday 4 November, so the meeting can start on Thursday morning.

Venue and accommodation
The meeting and the accommodation are in the same place, the Lotus Hotel in Akyaka.

Participants stay at the Lotus Hotel, where the meeting is held.

A proposed dinner at the hotel
The hotel chef offers a lionfish taco, reflecting MCF's work to promote lionfish as a food option locally. A group dinner is under consideration and has not yet been confirmed.
The proposed menu is €45 per person, excluding drinks:
- Four cold starters
- Salad
- Lionfish taco as a hot starter
- Fish, meat or a vegetarian main course
- Zucchini mousse for dessert

The arrival airport is Dalaman (DLM). Please plan to arrive on Wednesday 4 November.

Akyaka to Antalya
A group coach will take participants from Gökova Bay to Antalya on Sunday 8 November for COP31. The journey is roughly four hours by road.
MSA policy on travel, accommodation & meeting costs
The Med Sea Alliance has a fixed budget to organise the Alliance meeting. It covers the facilitator, venue, field visits and group meals, including lunches and dinners.
As the MSA cannot cover travel and accommodation for all member representatives, the following principles apply:
Members active in funded projects
Please use your subgrant to cover travel and accommodation costs.
Members not active in projects
Please arrange your own travel. The MSA covers your accommodation.
All members
The MSA covers the facilitator, venue, field visits and group lunches and dinners.
Our values and Code of Conduct
By participating in the Alliance annual meeting, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct.
Joint Goals & Consensus Building
We act in the best interests of the Alliance and its strategies and do our best to achieve the MSA Vision. We are committed to active listening, regular and structured communication, and consensus building. Furthermore, we will remain constructive and positive when deliberating on decisions and seek solutions rather than hold positions.
Trust & Respect
Our basic stance as Members is one of trust and respect for each other, rooted in the belief that each Member comes from a place of good intentions. We will cultivate trust through open, honest, and frequent communication. Direct communication is encouraged in conflict resolution. Each member is accountable for their actions within this framework, with questions about each other's work raised internally and respectfully.
Unity & Autonomy
As an Alliance we can present ourselves as a united front against issues that pose major threats to the Mediterranean Sea. Membership in the Alliance does not prevent individual Member organizations from taking a stronger stance, but such positions must be clearly separated and must not appear to represent the Alliance's communications or position.
All Members of the Alliance hold themselves accountable to these values and Code of Conduct. We are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for everyone, free from harassment and discrimination.
